Karen Robson - Southern Daily Echo
Footlights Youth Theatre is known for it's dance routines and comic capers, as well as high production values, lavish costumes and excellent performances.
It delivered on all levels in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Director David Tatnall produced a finely honed, witty and visually stunning piece which utilised the auditorium and the large cast with skill. Musical direction, costumes and scenery were excellent.
As Belle, Katherine Evans was the shining star around which the rest of the cast revolved. She captured a purity of spirit and inner beauty perfect for the role and sang the part beautifully.
There were no weak performances, but special mention must go to Natalie Thorn (Mrs Potts), Jack Shaw-Downey (Cogsworth) and Nick Rew (Lumiere). Natalie Thorn's rendition of Beauty and the Beast was superlative.
This was a thing of true beauty.
